World House Now jellemzők

The past decade has seen a renewed commitment to the architecture of Modernism in civic and cultural buildings, but especially in private houses.
Showcased here are thirty projects worldwide that present compelling evidence for a new International Style. But unlike the Modernism that preceded it, this new architecture is firmly rooted in the cultures and sites that it is built upon, integrating the unique features of their physical and cultural landscapes into the universal language of Modernism. The result is a rich and varied collection of works that are more similar in their attitudes and approaches to building rather than visual stylistic consistency.
From examples by Tadao Ando in the United States and Glenn Murcutt in Australia to the exemplary works of rising international architects, World House Now presents a comprehensive survey that encompasses India, South Africa and China, as well as Australia, Japan and Brazil, where Modernism has had a long tradition. Together, the thirty extraordinary houses present an enriching, sustainable and powerful new direction for the future of architecture.
