Brassai jellemzők
Brassai, born in Hungary as Gyula Halasz, began his artistic apprenticeship in Berlin and launched his exceptional photographic career in Paris. The photographer gained recognition early in his lifetime, granting him the opportunity to collaborate with others and to develop his proficiency across multiple creative domains, including painting, sculpture, set design, and writing. While he remained at the cutting edge of the avant-garde movements of his time, Brassai refused to conform to the boundaries of any single style.
This illustrated biography presents an ample spectrum of Brassai's oeuvre, including a wealth of previously unpublished photographs from his personal archives. Filtering a rich variety of sources including anecdotes from Brassae's wife and close friends, author Diane Elisabeth Poirier has created a personal and vibrant portrait of the photographer's life and work.
