Author Sunny Parkinson might bash out florid romance novels for a pittance, but her own life is decidedly lacking in passion. She shares a chaotic mansion flat with two eccentric, Irish sisters 'one gets her kicks from antiques fairs and the other is spherical, has an extensive collection of nylon dressing gowns and spends life slumped in front of the telly'; her best friend's hitherto-solid marriage is crumbling before her very eyes in an argument over luncheon meat; her ex, Patrick, still wears the same jeans he had on when she chucked him four years ago and her on-off boyfriend brings a whole new meaning to commitment-phobe.
